Ezekiel Boone is the author of the internationally bestselling The Hatching series (The Hatching, Skitter, and Zero Day) as well as The Mansion. Under the name Alexi Zentner, he is also the author of the internationally acclaimed novels, Copperhead, The Lobster Kings, and Touch. His work has been published in eighteen territories and more than fourteen languages. Several projects are currently under development for the screen.
Among other honors, his novels have won le prix Masterton, and been shortlisted for the PRIX Imaginaire découverte, The Governor General's Literary Award, The Center for Fiction's Flahery-Dunnan First Novel Prize, the VCU Cabell First Novelist Award, the Amazon.ca First Novel Award, the Ontario Library Association Forest of Reading Evergreen Award for Adult Fiction, the New England Society Book Award, and been longlisted for the Scotiabank Giller Prize, the IMPAC Dublin Literary Award (twice), the Maine Library Readers' Choice Award, and the Goodreads Choice Awards.
His work has also been selected for college "common read" experiences, multiple library honors, as a main selection of the Science Fiction Book Club, and featured Alternate of Literary Guild, Mystery Guild, and Doubleday book clubs, and as a New York Times "Editors' Choice." His short fiction has appeared in The Atlantic, Tin House, Glimmer Train, and many other publications, and has won the O. Henry Prize and the Narrative Prize. He was also recently a judge for the PEN / Faulkner prize.
He holds citizenship in both the USA and Canada. He lives in upstate New York with his wife and children, and teaches creative writing at Binghamton University. He was previously a journalist, a rock climbing instructor, and a stay-at-home dad. He also has two dogs, both of whom are poorly behaved.
